Position Summary: | The Software Developer position is responsible to develop and manage custom web applications using C#.NET and SQL Server on a regular basis and build/execute/design/distribute reports, queries and forms as needed. Assist with website modifications, document management, website data/content updates, SSL Certificate management. Maintain content for two separate websites using a CMS-based editor and collaborate with the Communications team as required.
Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new applications and/or databases. Provide office support in the areas of data, access (security), troubleshooting hardware/software, and general technical support as needed.
Assist with the development of custom applications by managing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, training and answering questions (support). Modify existing databases and management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
Interact daily with other university employees engaged in technical development and enhancement of automated systems, including Computer Systems Services, OIT, Registrar's Office, etc. Interact and consult with computer specialists of other universities. |

Minimum Qualification: | A Master's degree; or a Bachelor's degree and two years of appropriate experience are required. Programming using C#.NET and database experience using SQL Server required. Good communication skills are also required.
Computer Science degree preferred. Five years in technology background preferred. Knowledge of Banner, Web Focus, Dartboard, Omni Update CMS, C, C++, Java, VB.NET, HTML, PHP, MySQL, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access is also preferred. |

Minimum Qualification: | Applicants for the position must have earned a doctorate in Ocean or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field that contributes to the strategic initiatives of the department and the college. They will be an internationally known researcher in any emerging research area of high interest to the State of Florida and the nation. These areas include but are not limited to marine research, renewable energy, environmental research with long-term sustainability, biosciences/bioengineering, and nanotechnology. Candidates are expected to have an international reputation in their respective fields as evidenced by publications, citations and peer recognition. A current and substantive record of acquiring external resources to support research as well as an established record of sponsored research and scholarly activities is necessary. |
